The Pacific Northwest is the leading region in the production of blackberry honey, with California and the New England states also contributing. Raspberry and blackberry bushes are notable for their extended blossoming period, allowing honey bees to collect nectar from early April into June.

The yield of blackberry honey is relatively modest, averaging 40-50 pounds per acre depending on whether the colony is harvesting from wild berry bushes or from fields cultivated for commercial production. Many honey producers transport colonies to areas densely populated by raspberry and blackberry bushes in the spring to obtain this popular and sought-after variety.

Blackberry and raspberry bushes thrive independently across the globe, providing honey producers with a unique opportunity to produce honey free from insecticides, pesticides, and other artificial chemicals. The optimal environment for producing blackberry honey is one where dense thickets are present so honey bees do not encounter obstacles such as highways and broad rivers.
