Tupelo honey is known for its light color and delicate flavor- it is and is so good, it has its own category at many Honey Shows! It is very rich in vitamins and minerals like zinc, magnesium, and potassium. Its rarity, labor-intensive production and strict quality standards make it one of the most sought after honey types on the market.

• Rarity: The white tupelo tree blooms briefly in spring, found only in parts of Florida and Georgia, creating high demand but low supply.

• Labor-intensive: Beekeepers move hives to riverbanks when flowers bloom, often constructing floating platforms amidst challenging swamp conditions with alligators.

• Quality standards: To ensure purity and monofloral status, beekeepers extract honey immediately as flowers fade and ensure it comes primarily from tupelo trees.

Pure honey purchased from local beekeepers is NOT adulterated like most store-bought honey containing sugar water or corn syrup.
